" It is not down in any map; true places never are. "
-- Herman Melville
Host profile: Alexandra Atzeni

Host: Alexandra Atzeni

Location: Italy: Milan

Profession: Administrator & Personal Shopper

Specialty: Fashion, Local Culture

Born in Sardinia, Alex studied at the London College of Fashion. She worked in fashion journalism and styling for Harpers & Queens, among other publications, “running from one show to another in stilettos,” as she puts it.

Five years ago she returned to Italy and founded a tourist service company, Destination Glamour, with offices in Sardinia and Tuscany. She returns to Milan periodically to cast her practiced eye on the bewildering array of choices of the world’s fashion capital.

About Alexandra Atzeni

Alex thinks of herself as a fashion addict. She has one office in Sardinia and a second in Tuscany. She organizes fashion tours in the Costa Smeralda , an exclusive, eco-sensitive paradise on the north coast of Sardinia, in Tuscany, and in the Milan-Como-Mendrisio triangle. She seems to be everywhere! Let’s let her do the talking:

“I was wrapped up in the intriguing world of fashion for a long time and lived through unforgettable experiences - stressful & tiring yes but surely something I’d do again! Fashion, design and shows during the day and wonderful designer parties at night. An intoxicating – and exhausting – cocktail! The worst is that you have to wait six months until you can actually buy the clothes you have photographed!”

“Now, I want to share my fashion & shopping experience, including complete makeovers with you especially while you are in Milan.”

“In Tuscany, it will not be all about shopping and fashion but some good fun when we visit some of our local friends on their farms, producing wines and olive oils; or meet the owners of some spectacular villas - just some friends...!”

“In Sardinia, I’d be your personal shopper and your local host. I’d love to introduce you to my personal gourmet chef and sister-in-law, Alba, who teaches ancient Sardinian recipes you can’t find in any cookbook.”

MILAN & SURROUNDINGS…IN DEPTH WITH ALEXANDRA ATZENI

NOTE: Alex points out that a personal shopper can only be effective for two or, at most, three guests. An ideal match for InTouch!

MILAN, THE CAPITAL OF FASHION

Evening fashion show with drinks and canapés in a prestigious boutique in central Milan. After a first glance of the season’s trends, at the end of the show, all guests wishing to purchase their favorite designer pieces will be entitled to a discount.

FASHION OUTLETS BETWEEN MILAN AND COMO

Departure to Como after breakfast. On the way, stop by the Rossetti factory outlet, where you can purchase Rossetti shoes and accessories at discounted prices. Lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the new Mantero Silk Concept Store – a 360° offer of accessories for men, women and home. In this surprising atmosphere that revolutionizes the traditional concept of doing shopping, you will be able to purchase the latest griffes by Mantero.

FASHION OUTLETS IN SWITZERLAND

Shopping day! Following an early breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Mendrisio, Switzerland, and a full day of bargain-hunting at the Fox Town Factory Outlet. We explore couture and ready-to-wear designer collections at very affordable prices. Return to your hotel, time to unwrap your goods and wear your favorite to a dinner party at Como’s best restaurant.

Comments from Alexandra's Guests

“Dear Alex, just a note to thank you very much for the services you provided to my clients. They can't stop talking about you and what a wonderful trip they had, how everything was perfect and how the hotels were so very well chosen, (to the point that he got a disposable camera to take pictures of the Palacio Murat), how you looked after them and made sure that everything was all right. They felt totally pampered and as they describe it to me: “It was like traveling wrapped in a pillow, which is how smooth things were!” I think that says it all.”

—Travel Agent, US.

“In our busy life we never take time to thank those that make wonderful things happen. You are one of them. We wanted to thank you very much.”

—Mr. & Mrs. Tommy Klein
