The concept behind InTouch Travel--cultural immersion for travelers--is both old and new. Until relatively recently, travel itself could be difficult and dangerous; you needed a trusted local guide who knew the ropes. Nowadays, travel is relatively easy but often provides only a superficial view of your destination.
For those who want to travel further into the local culture and go beyond the traditional tourist trail, we offer personal contact with local people. They come from many walks of life, they might be English-speaking natives, they might be American or British expats. You don't hire them as guides; they're your hosts. They don't consider you a client but treat you as their guests.
The basic InTouch travel program is a two-day
experience for two people.
The basic InTouch Travel experience is a two-day program designed to introduce individual travelers, couples and small groups to a fascinating local host.
It's far more enriching than traditional sightseeing. We offer the in-depth experience of sharing your host's professional or cultural expertise, as well as the close-up experience of sharing your host's daily life.
You can, of course, request specific activities during your visit.
What It Costs:
A single traveler pays €450 for each day with an InTouch host.
For two people, the price is €275 per person per day.
For three or four people, the price is €175 per person per day.
Included:
Unless it's specifically indicated otherwise, your host takes care of local expenses (entrance fees, gratuities, local transportation, coffee stops, and a farewell drink)
And, of course, an honorarium to compensate your host for the time and professional expertise invested in your visit
Excluded:
Not included in the price are lodging, as well as lunch & dinner.
Is there a minimum number of days?
Yes. Most of our hosts request two-day bookings.
Can I book just one day with my host?
Yes. Normally, hosts prefer to devote two full days to the InTouch experience, but if you really don't have time, you can book a single day for a €25 (per guest) administrative supplement.
Why do you quote prices in Euros?
Most of our hosts live in euro-denominated countries and are compensated in euros. Your bank statement will reflect the US Dollar equivalent. InTouch Travel, by the way, is an American company, and we depend on favorable exchange rates as much as you do.
Do you work with travel agencies and tour groups?
Yes, of course. Travel agents earn a travel agency commission of 8%. Tour operators and larger groups should contact us for special conditions.
Lodging:
Because many of our guests include the two-day InTouch experience in a longer vacation, we no longer bundle a two-night hotel stay into our package. While you are more than welcome to arrange your own lodging, we can also do this for you.
Our hosts have recommended a selection of neighborhood hotels especially convenient for InTouch guests, and we can take care of the booking on your behalf, often at preferential rates. Just let us know when you make your reservation with InTouch.
You pay the hotel or B&B directly. We provide the hotel with your credit card number to guarantee the reservation and charge you a one-time €60 booking fee. For an idea of prices at these neighborhood hotels, per double room per night including breakfast:
- five-star luxury hotel: €275 - €350 (in major cities)
- four-star deluxe hotel: €200
- three-star superior hotel or neighborhood bed & breakfast: €150
